Burnett, Jewett Primm

Jewett Primm Burnett, of Max Meadows, the Poplar Camp Community, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007.

She was born January 12, 1923 in Wythe County, daughter of the late Charlie and Evie Mabry Primm. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Burnett and her husband were owners of Poplar Camp Electric Company for 45 years.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Clarence L. Burnett of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy B. Surratt and husband, Clayton of Roanoke, Va., Sonja Nester Boyd and husband, Gary of Fancy Gap, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger C. Burnett and wife, Myrna of Staunton, Va., Lowell B. Burnett and wife, Jo-ella of Austinville, Va.; one sister, Dorothy P. Edwards of Hillsville, Va.; grandchildren, Tony Surratt and Leasa of Charlotte, N.C., Kimberly G. Surratt of Roanoke, Va., Sulyn S. Sutliff and Kevin of Roanoke, Va., Randall Nester of Las Vegas, Nev., Eric M. Nester and Denise of Laurel Fork, Va., Michele B. Comer and Sean of Staunton, Va., Cheryl B. Landis and Matt of Harrisonburg, Va., Mitchell Burnett and Lyne of Kitty Hawk, N.C., Blake Burnett and Amy of Charlotte, N.C., Jody Burnett of Austinville, Va.; 10 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Ronnie Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Burnett will be taken to the church Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Pat Dalton, 6224 Poplar Camp Hwy., Hillsville, Va. 24343. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
