07/12: Wilderness Survival Adventures

The New River Trail State Park will be hosting Wilderness Survival Adventures featuring Vickie Shufer. Spend five minutes or five hours with one of Virginia's authorities on surviving in nature through the use of native plants for food, shelter, tools and medicinal purposes. This program will answer many questions about how to survive in nature. See examples of Native American tools formed from common things found in nature and demonstrations of making rope, shelters, baskets and tools. This event will be between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. There will also be a Wilderness Survival workshop. The cost is $10. All participants will receive a Wilderness Survival Guide. Sign up at the park office. There is a limit of 25 people. This workshop will be from 4 to 7 p.m.
