Car plows into store

HILLSVILLE — Ruth Smith of Hillsville was at the wheel of a 1993 Ford Mustang when she hit the wrong pedal while pulling up to Guynn Hardware at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. There's evidence — a crushed downspout — at the scene on Main Street that the car scraped the building next door before smashing through the hardware store's plate glass window and breaking out several masonry blocks, according to the Hillsville Police Department. Read more: Car plows into store
