Independence: Mountain Music Jam (7:00PM - 11:00PM)
Mountain Music Jam every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Historic 1908 Courthouse lawn in Independence, VA (inside in bad weather) Come to play. Come to listen. Come to dance. Bring a comfortable chair, or use one of the folding chairs provided by the 1908 Courthouse. Experience a true mountain music jam, where you will hear acoustic, unamplified music as it is played when folks seek only to entertain themselves and each other. This is not a performance! This is a wonderful opportunity to 'sit close', hear the clack of guitar picks and the feet tapping as music is shared among the group. Between tunes, you'll hear the folks discussing everything from the history of a tune to the last bad joke they heard.

VFW Music Jam Session (7:00PM - 10:00PM)
Grover King VFW Post 1115, 704 West Stuart Drive, Hillsville. There are many things distinctly unique to this region. One of these is the Old-Time and Blue Grass music jam session. A music jam is where musicians simply get together informally and play. It is a very unique experience in that the musicians that play are sometimes total strangers to the other - yet they are able to mesh their collective backgrounds. Every song is different, due to the fact that the musicians that play are usually different. It is a wonderful experience. The Wednesday night jam session is growing in popularity every week. Bring your guitar, bass, fiddle, or banjo and join in for the fun. Some just like to listen, yet others can't help but to tap their toes or a little flat footing. A music jam is worth experiencing and the concept is something that has a heritage going back many generations. Held almost every week. (7:00 PM-10:00 PM) Children Welcome
