McCarter, Jane Giersch

Jane Giersch McCarter, 88, of Galax, Va., passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. McCarter was born on October 22, 1921, in Tennessee to Warren B. and Minnie Houseman Giersch. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Van B. McCarter, of Galax, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Van and Janet McCarter, of Roanoke, Va., Dr. Jeff and Audrey McCarter, of Farmville, Va., and Robert and Pamela McCarter, of Charlotte, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dena Isom. The Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walt Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery.
